Independence Day 2017

Hey y’all! I hope you had a blessed Independence Day with your loved ones. Ours was pretty low key after our big weekend in Dallas. I’ll blog about that tomorrow.

So our day started in Dallas at our friends’ Dave and Paula’s house. We got ready, packed up, and were on the road by 11am. We got home around 3pm after stopping for lunch and ice cream. After we got home it was back to reality. We unpacked the van, Steven took a final for his summer class, I watched the kids and took care of stuff around the house. After dinner we popped fireworks with the family.

Our family picture turned out pretty good. 4 out of 6 kids are looking and smiling. #winning

We love Paula ❤️

Tom went with us to Dallas. She’s the best! ❤️

Dog pile on Dave. The kids love Dave. ❤️

Heading home 🏡

We hadn’t seen Makenna in over a week so she got a special dog pile too. 💗

Popping fireworks 💥

We put smoke bombs on the back of Brady’s tricycle and it was so funny to watch him ride around with smoke following him.

We are so thankful for our freedom. We are especially thankful to the men and women of our military. Thank you for all that you do!

Seals Summer Theme Week & Weekend Recap & Father’s Day

So the main story of last week was the stomach virus. 😩 Steven was out of town for the week (and he was sick with the virus too) and I was home with the kids. Unfortunately all six kids ended up getting it before the week was over. In addition, almost every adult that we came into contact with also got the virus. 😣 Thankfully, I never got sick which is such a blessing. I had several people tell me that drinking grape juice will keep you from getting the stomach virus, I tried to get the kids to drink it but they wouldn’t, but I did and I never got sick, so now I’m a believer!!

Bug week was a bust, I just didn’t have the energy to do anything but we did manage to have a big picnic.

Friday night we let the kids swim in the pool for the first time. They had a blast.

We did have a bug theme picnic Friday night. 😊

Saturday morning Brady had his t-ball party at the splash pad. He wasn’t in the mood to get wet. 🙄 So he just hung out by Steven the whole time. But the party was great and we are so proud of the Rascals; we had a great first year of t-ball. ⚾️

Then we went to my family reunion.

And G fell asleep on Chayce like this.

Sunday we celebrated the awesome dads in our lives.  The day consisted of church, lunch, Steven writing a paper for grad school, church, and pizza.

Father’s Day Ideas

Father’s Day is this weekend and I wanted to share what we do for Steven instead of giving him a million cards. A couple of years ago I saw this idea on Pinterest and knew it was perfect for our big family. Instead of each kid giving him Father’s Day cards I bought a notebook and each year, each kid writes him a special message. Since our kids are too young to write I put their hand print on a page and write a little message about what each kid likes to do with Dad. This year Brady signed his own name and everyone had the opportunity to decorate their hands. As the kids grow and mature I plan to turn the book over to them and let them be creative and personal. I love this idea because instead of trying to keep up with tons of expensive cards, all Steven’s Father’s Day messages will be in one place.

Doesn’t this book just stream Father’s Day!?!? When I saw it, I knew it was the perfect Father’s Day book.
(I got the notebook at Target, 2 years ago.)

Steven also does this for me on Mother’s Day.

Memorial Day 2017

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. Ours was great. We enjoyed lots of family time!🇺🇸

Brady is still playing t-ball so we were at the ballpark every Thursday night.

Friday we got our big girl beds!

Saturday Steven and I got some time away while the kids split up two-by-two-by-two and went to Nana’s, Meme’s, and Grandma’s house.

R & G played in water at Grandmas house.

M & T went to Chuck E Cheese with Nana and Pops.

The boys had fun pretending to be dogs at Meme’s house.

Sunday was church and we had the family over for dinner.

Memorial Day

We played outside then went to Papa Berney and Grandma’s house.

Mother’s Day 2017

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I hope your day was full of lots of love and laughter.

My Mother’s Day weekend didn’t go as planned. Late Wednesday night, a young lady from our community passed away in an automobile accident. She was so beautiful, inside and out, and just the sweetest person ever. My heart is broken for her family. I can’t imagine their pain. During her funeral all I could think of was her mama. I can’t think of anything worse than losing one of my babies. It was so heartbreaking.

You know friends, I’ve seen lots of posts on social media about moms wishing to get a day off on Mother’s Day or a vacation that day to get away from their kids, and I can honestly say that’s the last thing I want. Tomorrow isn’t promised to me or Steven or any of my six kids. On Mother’s Day, I want to see their sweet little faces and hear their cute voices when they say “Happy Mother’s Day”. I want to feel their hugs and kisses. Moms, we must always cherish every little moment with our children. None of us know if this Mother’s Day will be our last Mother’s Day with one of our children. It’s so important for all of us to make each day count. Live life to the fullest. Enjoy every phase of their lives, the good, the bad, and even the toddler years (times 5)!!!

My Mother’s Day was very low-key. We went to church and then Steven grilled steaks for lunch. Afterwards, we all took naps, well, they slept and I blogged.

I’m so thankful for Brady, Mia, Tessa, Brant, Gracie, and Rayleigh. I’m thankful God chose me to be their mama. Being their mama is the hardest job I’ve ever had. They wear me out, they frustrate me, they drive me crazy, but I can’t imagine my life without all six of them in it! They fill my life with so much love and joy and it is a honor to be their mama.

Brady Boo

He is my rainbow baby. After three heartbreaking miscarriages I was losing hope of ever having my own baby. Thank you Lord for blessing me with this sweet little boy. I love him with all my heart. 🌈

The Quints….

They are my surprise babies. I never would have imagined I’d carry and give birth to quintuplets, but my God is able! I’m so thankful for these 5 little surprises. They make life so fun!

My greatest blessings call me Mama!

Sunday night after church we went out to eat pizza. Mia and I had fun taking selfies.

Easter 2017

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was wonderful.
Friday we dyed eggs. The kids had so much fun dying eggs. And I have a funny story for you….Tessa thought the tablet that you use for dying eggs was candy and tried to chew it up. Thankfully I caught her before she swallowed it. 🙈

Saturday we had family over for desserts and to hunt eggs.

The Easter Bunny visited and bought the kids each a stuffed animal character from the movie Secret Life of Pets as well as a water gun. They were excited.

Ready for church

For your entertainment…we tried to take a selfie with all 8 of us, and well, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. 😂

After church we had lunch at my moms followed by an egg hunt.

And sweet little Tessa was wore out.

We ended the day by going out for pizza with Meme. It was a wonderful Easter weekend spent with lots of family time, which in my opinion is the best way to spend any holiday.

Preschool Easter Parties

Yesterday the kids all had their Easter parties at school. Thankfully, the quint’s party started a little before Brady’s so I was able to see most of both parties. It helped that Steven took off and came to the parties as well. The kids had fun hunting eggs. The girls really didn’t understand the concept of finding more than one egg. A good time was had by all.

First up…the quint’s party.
