Keepsakes from School

I don’t know about you, but I’m a very emotional and sensitive mama. If I could, I’d keep everything Brady, Mia, Tessa, Brant, Gracie, and Rayleigh ever made in church, school, or at home. But I can’t! In order to keep all their stuff, I’d have to build a huge storage building just for their artwork, notes, papers, etc. As a mom of lots of kids and who has limited space to store keepsakes I have to be picky when choosing what we keep and what gets thrown away.

Earlier this year, I purchased 3 cork boards from Hobby Lobby and Steven hung them in our entry hallway from the garage. I hang up their art projects as they bring them home. Brady loves seeing all his artwork hanging and questions me when I change things out, so I know he’s paying attention and cares. I will hang pictures, drawings, art until new stuff comes home that needs to be displayed, and that’s when things get trashed. For me, this has been a win/win situation. The kids see their work displayed and I don’t feel so bad about trashing their work.

Now I don’t want to give anyone the impression that I don’t keep my kids’ schoolwork. Here’s the proof that I do and that I have a major issue of just piling stuff up and not putting it away properly. ๐Ÿ™ˆ I need help y’all! ๐Ÿ˜ซ

I do keep the most special papers/artwork/notes/etc and I fully plan to find some kind of filing system to properly file them away or maybe even do a scrapbook????

What do you do with your kids’ keepsakes? I’d love to hear your suggestions on fast, easy, and cheap solutions to saving your kids’ keepsakes.

I can’t say enough good things about our four teachers. I never worried about the kids while they were at school because I knew they were in great hands. ย And all 6 kids learned so much this year. Thank you Ms. Sharon, Ms. Nichole, Ms. Ellen, and Ms. Jenna!!!

Preschool Easter Parties

Yesterday the kids all had their Easter parties at school. Thankfully, the quint’s party started a little before Brady’s so I was able to see most of both parties. It helped that Steven took off and came to the parties as well. The kids had fun hunting eggs. The girls really didn’t understand the concept of finding more than one egg. A good time was had by all.

Field Trip to Raindrop Hill

Am I the only mom who doesn’t enjoy school field trips? When I taught kindergarten and first grade I hated field trips. Too many things can go wrong when you have that many kids you are responsible for out in public; I was always a nervous wreck. Now that I’m a mom I still have that same dislike for field trips. If I just had one kid to focus on, it probably wouldn’t be so bad, but trying to keep up with six, well, it just becomes a game of counting heads, then recounting, and then trying to find the one or two who have wondered off. BUT, I remember as a kid how much I loved going on field trips and how much I enjoyed them so I put my big girl panties on, slap a fake smile on my face, and try to make the best of the situation.

Yesterday the kids had a field trip to Raindrop Hill. The kids had no idea what I was talking about when I’d tell them we were going on a field trip. I wasn’t too sure how this field trip was going to go and I’m happy to say they did fantastic. Of course I had Tom with me, Ms. Holly Boo, and the other parents helped out too and we didn’t have one issue. All six kids were a little scared at first but after a while they all seemed to warm up to the situation. They loved the animals and talked about petting the bunny all day. Here’s a ton of pictures for you to enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Back to School

Going back to school yesterdayย was rough on the Six Sweet Seals and mama too! I thought I had everything ready to go…and I was wrong. My alarm clock didn’t go off, I over slept, the kids were in bad moods because they had to get up early, some of them didn’t want to wear their clothes, Mia wouldn’t let you fix her hair, I tried to get a back to school picture and it was a disaster….so you get the picture. My big plans for life to run much smoother in 2017 went out the window before the day even got started, but we survived.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Monday the kids had a field trip to the pumpkin patch. I have to admit, I was dreading this field trip. It is the first field trip for the quints and I knew it was going to be a lot of work. The pumpkin patch is right beside a highway and that makes me really nervous. Plus, I was going to have to split my time between the quints class and Bradyโ€™s class, since they are in different classes. Thankfully, Tom & Janna went with me and helped me keep up with everyone. Had I not had them to help out, I probably would have skipped the field trip. But thankfully things worked out and Iโ€™m glad because I want the kids to get to experience fun things with their classmates. I donโ€™t want me being overwhelmed and worried to get in the way of them learning and experiencing new things.

They all had fun and hereโ€™s a few pictures to prove it!

Be Blessed,

Michelle
