First Movie Date

Yesterday, I, along with some very special friends took Brady and the quints to the movies. This was the quints first movie theater experience so I knew I needed lots of extra hands, and I was right! During the summer our local theater shows $1 movies every Monday and Tuesday. I looked over the list of movies and found three I thought my kids would enjoy. The movie we watched was Trolls. We arrived 40 minutes early because we had a big group and I knew we needed to get there early for seats to ensure we’d be able to all sit together. Thankfully we got a row of seats. And the whole time we were waiting on the movie to start, we went to the restroom 10 times! Once the movie started, we went 10 more times. ๐Ÿ™„ Brady and Brant did great. The girls on the other hand thought it was fun to run up and down the hallway and go potty every 5 minutes.

Gracie kept telling me she wanted to see Trolls and I was like it’s on the screen. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Popcorn was everywhere. But all in all, they did well and had fun.
I’m so thankful I had lots of help.

A very special thank you goes to Tom, Katie, Holly Boo, and Hadley Boo for coming with us. We had a blast at the quint’s first movie date.

Now before I sign off…. I want to share some little tricks that helped me yesterday.

  1. Ziploc bags are a must with big groups. I bought one large popcorn, then I used the ziploc bags to divide the popcorn to all the kids. The best part about buying large popcorn is you get a free refill! #winning
  2. I took the quints’ cups to the movies with me so that made it easy to divide drinks up. And I felt comfortable letting them hold on to their cups without the fear of them spilling their drink everywhere.
  3. Take lots of help!!! I knew I’d have kids that would need to go to the bathroom (I just didn’t expect them to need/want to go so much) so I knew I needed people to stay with the kids in the theater while I took the others to the restroom. I’m so thankful for Tom, Katie, Holly, & Hadley.

Be blessed,
Michelle

Life Latelyย

So I spent every day last week posting on our vacation. So this week will be a catch-up week. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately.

Our Seals Summer Theme Week last week was Bugs. Unfortunately, I only did one real activity with the kids, so I’ve decided to extend Bug Week to this week too! I love not having any rules!

We got home from vacation around 12:30 Monday and had to have Brady at swim lessons by 1pm! He did so good and is very comfortable in the water now. Thank you Harley and Makenna for teaching him to swim.

Tuesday we went bowling. ย ๐ŸŽณ
And celebrated Brant’s 3rd NICU Homecoming Day!

Wednesday, Tessa got sick. ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜ท
(Stomach virus)

Thursday, Brady had his last t-ball game. He played so well; I’m glad he ended the season on a positive note. We are so proud of the our little team. The Rascals had a great year!

โ€‹

Saturday, we celebrated Ms. Mary’s birthday.

By the end of Saturday, The Virus had claimed 3 more victims: Mia, Gracie, and Brady.
๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿ˜ซ

And Sunday Rayleigh became the 5th victim. ๐Ÿ˜ซ
This stomach virus hasn’t been as terrible as previous stomach viruses. Tessa had it the worst and felt bad for 3 days but everyone else would vomit or have diarrhea and then be fine. It was weird. I pray they are all going to be over it very soon. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Camping Trip–Day 2

I failed to mention yesterday where we went on vacation… we went to Broken Bow, OK. It’s only approximately 2 hours from our house which is one of the main reasons we picked it. I really wanted to go to the beach, but we knew the kids weren’t up for such a long road trip so we kept it close this year. And honestly, I’m glad we did, we had so much fun and didn’t have to go that far to get there.

The whole weekend was forecasted to be rainy…every.single.day! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ We were all so bummed, but thankfully the rain held off and we were able to get out and have lots of fun! Day 2 was our water day. We rented a party barge and spent the morning on the lake. Gage and Makenna tubed behind the barge. And Brady took a turn too. ย After lunch Marty, Kara, and Erin came up and we all played, kayaked, and swam the whole afternoon. That evening Jeremy grilled steaks. It was such a fun day!!!

As you can see, the sun zapped everyone and they were out!

May Review

I seriously can’t believe it’s already June! Where did May go? Our May was fast and furious. For us, May and December are our two busiest months of the year. We had 4 straight weeks of birthdays to celebrate in our family. Throw in Mother’s Day, all the end of the school year activities, and t-ball games–we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off! I’m looking forward to things slowing down this summer and just enjoying as much time with the kids I can get.

Here’s a look back at our May.

Here’s how I’ve been doing on my 2017 Goals.

  • Work smarter not harder.
    • I’ve done fairly well on this. My goal this summer is to get my house completely organized before the new school year starts.
  • Study bible more.
    • I’m doing well. I’m reading The Story, and I’m enjoying the book. It puts the bible in chronological order which is very helpful to understanding the bible.
  • Focus on friendships.
    • In May I was able to catch up with a couple of my friends and spend quite a bit of time with them.
  • Learn something new.
    • Still scratching my head on this one…..
  • Live healthier.
    • I’ve have failed miserably in this department. I only exercised 11 times for the whole month! I’ve got to do much better in June and get back on track.
  • Blog goal.
    • I’ve been blogging up a storm. Most weeks I publish 5 posts which is big for me!

Kids in the Kitchen Weekย

First off….

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธHappy Memorial Day!๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today we remember all the men and women who have fought and made sacrifices for our country so we can enjoy our freedoms. Thank you! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโค๏ธ

Last week was the kickoff week to The Seals Summer Fun Theme Weeks. Our first theme was Kids in the Kitchen where we had fun making fun and tasty new recipes. In addition to our fun theme, we also incorporated learning activities. Last week we focused on colors, shapes, and the letters A & B.

Monday:

We made Munchy Madness Sandwiches. The kids enjoyed making the sandwiches more than they enjoyed eating the sandwiches.

All you need to make Munch Madness Sandwiches is: bread, peanut butter, bananas, raisins, and honey. Layer, combine, and enjoy. (We refrigerated ours for about an hour before we ate them.)

My main goal is for the kids to haveย fun whileย working on following directions, working on hand/eye coordination, and trying new foods.

Tessa loved the sandwich, Brady wouldn’t even try it ๐Ÿ™„, Brant ate the bananas ๐ŸŒ, Gracie took everything off and ate the bread with peanut butter, Mia took two bites, and Rayleigh nibbled a few bites.

We read books…

We work on colors, shapes, and letters.

Tuesday

We made Protein Cookies.

Here’s the recipe.

The kids love to help me cook. And I enjoy involving them in these cooking activities.

On Wednesday we skipped cooking and went to the dentist, the mall to play, and bowling. All of us were worn out by the time we got home. Oh and we went to church that night.

Thursday

Thursday mornings are pancake day at the Seals house. So I let the kids help me make Ultimate Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The recipe is on the back of the Bisquick box.

I try to make learning fun for Brady. When he gets tired, we stop.

Friday

We skipped our cooking activity and the kids played outside all morning. Then they went to Nana’s house while their big girl beds were delivered and assembled. I’ll do a separate post on the beds. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was a fun week and a great way to start the summer. We didn’t do everything we’d planned for the week but that’sย okay. We still have plenty of time to get to everything I have planned. My motto this summer is no rules. We are just going with the flow and aren’t going to worry about having to do everything right on time.

Happy Summertime!!!!๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿโ›ฑ

Keepsakes from School

I don’t know about you, but I’m a very emotional and sensitive mama. If I could, I’d keep everything Brady, Mia, Tessa, Brant, Gracie, and Rayleigh ever made in church, school, or at home. But I can’t! In order to keep all their stuff, I’d have to build a huge storage building just for their artwork, notes, papers, etc. As a mom of lots of kids and who has limited space to store keepsakes I have to be picky when choosing what we keep and what gets thrown away.

Earlier this year, I purchased 3 cork boards from Hobby Lobby and Steven hung them in our entry hallway from the garage. I hang up their art projects as they bring them home. Brady loves seeing all his artwork hanging and questions me when I change things out, so I know he’s paying attention and cares. I will hang pictures, drawings, art until new stuff comes home that needs to be displayed, and that’s when things get trashed. For me, this has been a win/win situation. The kids see their work displayed and I don’t feel so bad about trashing their work.

Now I don’t want to give anyone the impression that I don’t keep my kids’ schoolwork. Here’s the proof that I do and that I have a major issue of just piling stuff up and not putting it away properly. ๐Ÿ™ˆ I need help y’all! ๐Ÿ˜ซ

I do keep the most special papers/artwork/notes/etc and I fully plan to find some kind of filing system to properly file them away or maybe even do a scrapbook????

What do you do with your kids’ keepsakes? I’d love to hear your suggestions on fast, easy, and cheap solutions to saving your kids’ keepsakes.

Mother’s Day 2017

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I hope your day was full of lots of love and laughter.

My Mother’s Day weekend didn’t go as planned. Late Wednesday night, a young lady from our community passed away in an automobile accident. She was so beautiful, inside and out, and just the sweetest person ever. My heart is broken for her family. I can’t imagine their pain. During her funeral all I could think of was her mama. I can’t think of anything worse than losing one of my babies. It was so heartbreaking.

You know friends, I’ve seen lots of posts on social media about moms wishing to get a day off on Mother’s Day or a vacation that day to get away from their kids, and I can honestly say that’s the last thing I want. Tomorrow isn’t promised to me or Steven or any of my six kids. On Mother’s Day, I want to see their sweet little faces and hear their cute voices when they say “Happy Mother’s Day”. I want to feel their hugs and kisses. Moms, we must always cherish every little moment with our children. None of us know if this Mother’s Day will be our last Mother’s Day with one of our children. It’s so important for all of us to make each day count. Live life to the fullest. Enjoy every phase of their lives, the good, the bad, and even the toddler years (times 5)!!!

My Mother’s Day was very low-key. We went to church and then Steven grilled steaks for lunch. Afterwards, we all took naps, well, they sleptย and I blogged.

I’m so thankful for Brady, Mia, Tessa, Brant, Gracie, and Rayleigh. I’m thankful God chose me to be their mama. Being their mama is the hardest job I’ve ever had. They wear me out, they frustrate me, they drive me crazy, but I can’t imagine my life without all six of them in it! They fill my life with so much love and joy and it is a honor to be their mama.

Brady Boo

He is my rainbow baby. After three heartbreaking miscarriages I was losing hope of ever having my own baby. Thank you Lord for blessing me with this sweet little boy. I love him with all my heart. ๐ŸŒˆ

The Quints….

They are my surprise babies. I never would have imagined I’d carry and give birth to quintuplets, but my God is able! I’m so thankful for these 5 little surprises. They make life so fun!

Mia

Tessa

Brant

Gracie

Rayleigh

My greatest blessings call me Mama!

Sunday night after church we went out to eat pizza. Mia and I had fun taking selfies.
