Life Latelyย

So I spent every day last week posting on our vacation. So this week will be a catch-up week. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately.

Our Seals Summer Theme Week last week was Bugs. Unfortunately, I only did one real activity with the kids, so I’ve decided to extend Bug Week to this week too! I love not having any rules!

We got home from vacation around 12:30 Monday and had to have Brady at swim lessons by 1pm! He did so good and is very comfortable in the water now. Thank you Harley and Makenna for teaching him to swim.

Tuesday we went bowling. ย ๐ŸŽณ
And celebrated Brant’s 3rd NICU Homecoming Day!

Wednesday, Tessa got sick. ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜ท
(Stomach virus)

Thursday, Brady had his last t-ball game. He played so well; I’m glad he ended the season on a positive note. We are so proud of the our little team. The Rascals had a great year!

Saturday, we celebrated Ms. Mary’s birthday.

By the end of Saturday, The Virus had claimed 3 more victims: Mia, Gracie, and Brady.

And Sunday Rayleigh became the 5th victim. ๐Ÿ˜ซ
This stomach virus hasn’t been as terrible as previous stomach viruses. Tessa had it the worst and felt bad for 3 days but everyone else would vomit or have diarrhea and then be fine. It was weird. I pray they are all going to be over it very soon. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Brant’s Homecoming Day

Three years ago today, we brought our precious only boy quint home from the NICU. That moment, this day, is one of those memories that you never forget. Throughout my pregnancy and at the beginning of our long NICU stay, I honestly didn’t know if we’d bring any of the quints home, so when the day finally arrived to take Brant home I was overcome with so many emotions. I was overjoyed, overwhelmed, scared, excited, thankful, and so, so, so blessed to name a few.

Our NICU days are a distant memory now. But I will never forget how amazing everyone in the Baylor NICU were to us. I’m forever grateful to everyone single person who worked with, cared for, and loved our quints. โค๏ธ

This picture popped up on my Facebook newsfeed today. And there is a big part of me that wishes for just a few minutes to go back and snuggle my little guy because he’s not so little anymore. He’s all boy, full of laughter and mischief. He has the most adorable wink and smile. I’m thankful for how far Brant has come since the day we brought him home. He has filled our lives with so much happiness and love. ๐Ÿ’™

Happy Homecoming Day Brant!!!

May Review

I seriously can’t believe it’s already June! Where did May go? Our May was fast and furious. For us, May and December are our two busiest months of the year. We had 4 straight weeks of birthdays to celebrate in our family. Throw in Mother’s Day, all the end of the school year activities, and t-ball games–we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off! I’m looking forward to things slowing down this summer and just enjoying as much time with the kids I can get.

Here’s a look back at our May.

Here’s how I’ve been doing on my 2017 Goals.

  • Work smarter not harder.
    • I’ve done fairly well on this. My goal this summer is to get my house completely organized before the new school year starts.
  • Study bible more.
    • I’m doing well. I’m reading The Story, and I’m enjoying the book. It puts the bible in chronological order which is very helpful to understanding the bible.
  • Focus on friendships.
    • In May I was able to catch up with a couple of my friends and spend quite a bit of time with them.
  • Learn something new.
    • Still scratching my head on this one…..
  • Live healthier.
    • I’ve have failed miserably in this department. I only exercised 11 times for the whole month! I’ve got to do much better in June and get back on track.
  • Blog goal.
    • I’ve been blogging up a storm. Most weeks I publish 5 posts which is big for me!

The Quint’s 3 Year Update

Last Friday we took Mia, Tessa, Brant, Gracie, and Rayleigh to the doctor for their 3 year checkup. They are all healthy and thriving! The doctor was very pleased with their progress and so are we. I am so thankful they are doing so well. The doctor talked about how by the ages of 3 to 4 years old most premature kids usually catch up with other kids their age and we are seeing that with our quints. Here’s an update on each one:

Mia Danielle:ย

Birth Weight: 2lbs 10oz ย  ย  ย  ย  Birth Height: 14.9in

Current Weight: 25lbs ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Current Height: 34 3/4in

Individual update: Mia is staying strong on her growth curve. She’s very small, but the doctors don’t seem too concerned about it. I honestly think she’s going to be small like me. She’s in the 2nd percentile for weight and 4th percentile for height. Last week we were treating her for an ear infection and when the doctor looked in her ears, he said the infection was getting better. Mia is the only quint who still has a feeding tube. She gets 2 feedings a day through the tube on top of her meals and snacks. ย Overall, she’s doing great and we’re pleased with her progress!

Tessa Suzanne:

Birth Weight: 2lbs 14oz ย  ย  ย  ย  Birth Height: 16.5in

Current Weight: 28lbs ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Current Height: 35in

Individual update: Tessa has always been one of the biggest quints, the girl likes to eat. She’s in the 20th percentile for weight and 6th percentile for height. We are very pleased with her growth!

Brant Lee:

Birth Weight: 3lbs 6oz ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Birth Height: 15.7in

Current Weight: 27lbs ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Current Height: 36in

Individual update: Brant just doesn’t like to eat. It is like pulling teeth to try to feed him. He likes to take a bite and run off then come back for another bite. Or he’ll stuff his mouth full and have to spit everything out. It’s so frustrating dealing with him when he’s eating. That being said, he’s now in the 5th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for height. Overall, he’s healthy we just have to get him to eat more so he’ll grow big and strong.

Gracie Lou:

Birth Weight: 2lbs 7oz ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Birth Height: 15.3in

Current Weight: 29lbs ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Current Height: 36in

Individual update: Gracie was our tiniest baby at birth and now, she’s our biggest and has been our biggest for a while now. My diva girl likes to eat! She’s now in the 30th percentile in weight and 20th percentile in height. She’s doing fabulous!

Rayleigh Ann:

Birth Weight: 2lbs 8oz ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย Birth Height: 14in

Current Weight: 27lbs ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  Current Height: 35.5

Individual update: Rayleigh lost her g-tube in March and the girl is rocking life without her tube! She is in the 10th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for height. We are so proud of her for doing so well without her tube.

  • All of the quints are getting speech therapy again.
  • I asked the doctor to refer everyone for an occupational therapy evaluation to see if anyone needs therapy. It’s been a while since they all had OT and I want to make sure we stay on top of their development.
  • All the girls are completely potty trained. Brant will pee in the potty but is not pooping in the potty yet.
  • Sleeping through the night is still hit or miss. Hopefully when the girls all get their new big girl beds that will encourage them to stay in bed and sleep well. Brant usually ends up in our bed sometime during the night, most nights.
  • They all love school and are doing well. We only have a few more weeks until summer break. They will be attending the same school next year for Pre-K3.

They were born at 29 weeks 1 day gestation and considering they were born 11 weeks early, they are doing exceptionally well at this point in their lives. I am so thankful to all the doctors, nurses, and therapists who have helped us get to this point. We have been so richly blessed with the best medical care and for that we are forever grateful.

Be blessed,

Our Wild Weekendย

Hey there y’all! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. I’ll start by saying, I’m one tired mama! We have been going non-stop since Thursday! But everything is just fine because….. ITS MY BIRTHDAY WEEK!!! ๐ŸŽ‰ Whoop whoop! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thursday, Brady had a home game. I didn’t have the best seat so I didn’t take any pictures, except this one. I love how both teams got together after the game for a prayer. I’m proud of all these coaches for setting such a positive example for our kiddos.

On Friday the quints had their 3 year checkup. Everyone got a good report. I’ll do a whole blog post about the appointment in a day or two.

After the doctor appointment, we went to a local furniture store and bought all the girls new beds. So in a few weeks, all our baby beds will be replaced with big girl beds!

If you are from the east Texas area, I highly recommend Rawl’s Furniture Store. They are friendly and will take good care of you.

My nephew, Gage, went to Regionals in track. His team got 7th in their Region. We are so proud him and all the Cardinal track team.

Saturday we woke up early and headed to Shreveport, LA for the March of Dimes walk. We had a great time. ย I’ll do a separate blog post about the walk this week.

Saturday evening we celebrated my Dad’s 60th birthday at a BBQ restaurant. I was in charge of the decorating, so I used the decorations from the kids cowboy/cowgirl party last year and it didn’t cost me a penny. I’m so glad I held on to those decorations. We had a great time hanging out with our family.

Sunday we went to church (am & pm). Miss Holly Boo and Hadley came by to visit us and after evening services we went out to eat pizza for one last celebration for Papa Berney.

And today is the first day of May! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I seriously can’t believe it’s already May! Tessa was pretty excited about it being Mama’s birthday week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Be blessed,

What’s Up Wednesday

I’m doing my first link-up today…So let’s get started.

1.) What we’re eating this week….

Steven grilled hamburgers last night and tonight we’re having baked potatoes. I’ve found that baked potatoes are about the easiest meal to prepare on church nights with very little clean up so that’s my go to on Wednesdays and Sundays now.

2.) What I’m reminiscing about…

Brady’s first Texas Rangers baseball game. It was so much fun!

3.) What I’m loving….

Warmer weather, the kids playing outside, and Brady’s tee ball games.

4.) What we’ve been up to….

Baseball games..

5.) What I’m dreading….

Cleaning out my closet, I need to switch my clothes around (bring summer clothes out and put winter clothes up).

6.) What I’m working on….

Organizing my house and life.

7.) What I’m excited about…

The March of Dimes walk is this weekend. I’m excited to get to participate in it, IF the weather permits. If you haven’t already, we would appreciate you donating to our team!!

8.) What I’m watching/reading…

Dancing with the Stars๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿป

I’m working on both of these books right now.

9.) What I’m listening to….

At the moment, I’m listening to Tessaย cry. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ And I’m listening to the thunder.

10.) What I’m wearing…

Workout pants and a t-shirt…I’m a mom of six, I have to be comfortable.

Brady’s Big Day

Thursdayย was a big day for Brady. We started the day off by registering him for kindergarten!!!! I seriously can’t believe he’s starting kindergarten in the fall. On our way there he was a little nervous and wasn’t sure about this whole “big” school stuff. But once we got there and got to talking to a few people, he quickly warmed up and did great. In fact, he’s excited about going to kindergarten now. Me on the other hand, I was struggling to not cry. I don’t know why I have to be so sensitive about everything, especially when it comes to my kids, but I am. I know he’s going to be fine and do fine, it’s just a big change and change is always hard for me. But I held it togetherย and enjoyed getting to visit with a few of my former co-workers/friends. Brady was excited that his Aunt Kayla came over to visit with him before we left.

Thursdayย night, Brady had his first tee ball scrimmage. I’ll be honest, we didn’t have very high expectations of his t-ball abilities. If you remember, soccer didn’t go so great. He just wanted to hang out with his coaches the whole time. Well, to our dismay, he actually tried last night and did a pretty good job. He hit the ball, ran fast, and wanted to get the ball on defense. His little team did good and I’m so proud that Brady had fun.

The quints wanted in the dugout so bad.

His first ever at-bat.

After the game was over, the Six Sweet Seals took the field. I didn’t think I was ever going to get them to leave.

Even though I get a little sad that my babies are growing up so quickly, I have to say, I’m excited about this season of our lives. I see lots of fun memories being made at the ballparks. โšพ๏ธ
