Weekend at Paula’s

We loaded up Saturday, with Tom in tote, and headed to Dallas for a fun weekend with our friends Dave and Paula. Our first stop once we got there was lunch at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Ojedas. Afterwards, we headed to Downtown Dallas to visit the Perot Museum of Nature & Science. I thought the kids would enjoy seeing the dinosaurs and other fun things, but as it turns out, they were a little too young to enjoy many of the exhibits. We didn’t take a stroller so they had to walk and it was tough trying to keep up with everyone in a big crowd. Us adults all agreed the place was super cool and we would have loved to walk around, look at, and read about all the exhibits, but it wasn’t enjoyable with a 5 year old and FIVE 3 year olds. So we headed back to Paula’s to grill hamburgers and let the kids play in the swimming pools where they had a blast!

An interesting fact about this picture right here…the golf course in the background the the golf course where Steven proposed to me 11 years ago!

Sunday morning we loaded up and headed to the Ft. Worth Zoo. It was extremely hot and that made for another long day with the Six Sweet Seals. They enjoyed looking at the animals, and this time we took our big stroller so everyone was able to sit and we were able to keep up with everyone better, but the heat was killer. We lasted a couple of hours then headed back home. That night we grilled steaks and the kids played in the pool again. Playing in the pool was their favorite thing to do this whole trip!

Rayleigh cried 95% of the time we were at the zoo.

The monkeys were very entertaining and was everyone’s favorite animal.

Back home and playing in the water.

Monday we headed to DFW airport to watch the planes land and take off. There is a visitor area where you can listen to the control tower and watch the planes. There picnic tables with coverings so it was nice and the kids really enjoyed it. Afterwards we had lunch then headed to Paula’s for naps. That evening we headed to Addison for the Kaboom Town firework show. There was an estimated 500,000 people in attendance so we knew we had to get there early to get a decent seat. Thankfully the weather was mild and we found some shade to sit under and the kids did well. However, they did not enjoy the fireworks, at all! Afterwards, we sat in the parking garage for 2 hours waiting for the crowd to clear so traffic to move. It was a little frustrating sitting for so long but thankful all the kids went to sleep about 45 minutes into the long wait.

Kaboom Town

We enjoyed our picnic, watching the airplanes put on a show, and playing outside while we waited for the fireworks.

Tuesday we loaded up and headed back home. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

We had a wonderful time visiting with Paula and Dave. They are so good to us and treat us just like family when we stay with them. And the kids LOVE them. Even though our outings didn’t run as smoothly as we would have liked, we managed to have a fun time and I’m so glad we made this quick trip to Dallas.

Independence Day 2017

Hey y’all! I hope you had a blessed Independence Day with your loved ones. Ours was pretty low key after our big weekend in Dallas. I’ll blog about that tomorrow.

So our day started in Dallas at our friends’ Dave and Paula’s house. We got ready, packed up, and were on the road by 11am. We got home around 3pm after stopping for lunch and ice cream. After we got home it was back to reality. We unpacked the van, Steven took a final for his summer class, I watched the kids and took care of stuff around the house. After dinner we popped fireworks with the family.

Our family picture turned out pretty good. 4 out of 6 kids are looking and smiling. #winning

We love Paula ❀️

Tom went with us to Dallas. She’s the best! ❀️

Dog pile on Dave. The kids love Dave. ❀️

Heading home 🏑

We hadn’t seen Makenna in over a week so she got a special dog pile too. πŸ’—

We put smoke bombs on the back of Brady’s tricycle and it was so funny to watch him ride around with smoke following him.

We are so thankful for our freedom. We are especially thankful to the men and women of our military. Thank you for all that you do!

Seals Summer Theme Week & Weekend Recap

Last week was the first week of summer so our theme was Summer Fun. The kids enjoyed playing on the slip n’ slide, went to a jumping at iJump, and enjoyed picnics. We also took the quints to their first movie (and Brady too).

Saturday the kids enjoyed some time with loved ones and I cleaned house.

Sunday was church and the kids are super excited that VBS started last night!

First Movie Date

Yesterday, I, along with some very special friends took Brady and the quints to the movies. This was the quints first movie theater experience so I knew I needed lots of extra hands, and I was right! During the summer our local theater shows $1 movies every Monday and Tuesday. I looked over the list of movies and found three I thought my kids would enjoy. The movie we watched was Trolls. We arrived 40 minutes early because we had a big group and I knew we needed to get there early for seats to ensure we’d be able to all sit together. Thankfully we got a row of seats. And the whole time we were waiting on the movie to start, we went to the restroom 10 times! Once the movie started, we went 10 more times. πŸ™„ Brady and Brant did great. The girls on the other hand thought it was fun to run up and down the hallway and go potty every 5 minutes.

Gracie kept telling me she wanted to see Trolls and I was like it’s on the screen. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Popcorn was everywhere. But all in all, they did well and had fun.
I’m so thankful I had lots of help.

A very special thank you goes to Tom, Katie, Holly Boo, and Hadley Boo for coming with us. We had a blast at the quint’s first movie date.

Now before I sign off…. I want to share some little tricks that helped me yesterday.

  1. Ziploc bags are a must with big groups. I bought one large popcorn, then I used the ziploc bags to divide the popcorn to all the kids. The best part about buying large popcorn is you get a free refill! #winning
  2. I took the quints’ cups to the movies with me so that made it easy to divide drinks up. And I felt comfortable letting them hold on to their cups without the fear of them spilling their drink everywhere.
  3. Take lots of help!!! I knew I’d have kids that would need to go to the bathroom (I just didn’t expect them to need/want to go so much) so I knew I needed people to stay with the kids in the theater while I took the others to the restroom. I’m so thankful for Tom, Katie, Holly, & Hadley.

Be blessed,
Michelle

Life LatelyΒ

So I spent every day last week posting on our vacation. So this week will be a catch-up week. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately.

Our Seals Summer Theme Week last week was Bugs. Unfortunately, I only did one real activity with the kids, so I’ve decided to extend Bug Week to this week too! I love not having any rules!

We got home from vacation around 12:30 Monday and had to have Brady at swim lessons by 1pm! He did so good and is very comfortable in the water now. Thank you Harley and Makenna for teaching him to swim.

Tuesday we went bowling.  🎳
And celebrated Brant’s 3rd NICU Homecoming Day!

Wednesday, Tessa got sick. 🀒😷
(Stomach virus)

Thursday, Brady had his last t-ball game. He played so well; I’m glad he ended the season on a positive note. We are so proud of the our little team. The Rascals had a great year!

Saturday, we celebrated Ms. Mary’s birthday.

By the end of Saturday, The Virus had claimed 3 more victims: Mia, Gracie, and Brady.
🀒😷😫

And Sunday Rayleigh became the 5th victim. 😫
This stomach virus hasn’t been as terrible as previous stomach viruses. Tessa had it the worst and felt bad for 3 days but everyone else would vomit or have diarrhea and then be fine. It was weird. I pray they are all going to be over it very soon. πŸ™πŸ»

Camping Trip–Day 4

We have finally made it to the last day of our vacation. On Monday we woke up, got dressed, packed up, took a ton of pictures (as you’re about to see), and headed home.

This was the perfect first vacation for our family. My idea of the perfect vacation is going to a beautiful beach. I absolutely love the beach. And originally, we thought about going to the beach, but we knew the kids just wouldn’t be up for it this year. We have to drive pretty much all day to get to a nice beach; we just didn’t want to stress ourselves out with such a long trip in the car. Broken Bow is only 2 hours away and not once did the kids complain about the drive. The lake was so nice and relaxing and it’s nice to know we don’t have to drive 2 days to have a nice, fun, and relaxing vacation. Maybe in a few years the kids will be ready for such a long trip, but until then, we’re perfectly happy vacationing close to home.

Here’s some extra “outtake” pictures.

Camping Trip–Day 3

Sorry for dragging this very short trip out but with all the pictures I am sharing, one post would have been massive. So here we go with Day 3.

Sunday we got up and went to church in Broken Bow. It was raining that morning and rain was in the forecast all day but thankfully after lunch it was clear so we headed out to have some more fun. We took a train ride through the park, road go-carts, and spent some time by the river before the rain made us leave. We were so thankful for the nice weather so we could have some fun out of the cabin.

Ready to go to church and this guy was being a weirdo. πŸ˜‚
Gosh I sure love him. ❀️

So I was in charge of packing and I did a great job except for the fact I forgot to pack myself any shoes. The only shoes I had were the ones on my feet! So I had to wear these old flip flops to church with my dress. πŸ™ˆπŸ˜¬πŸ˜Ÿ

My cuties all ready for church. This was their first time in a church other than ours and they did so well.

We had the sweetest conductor for our train ride. He was in awe of the quints and of course big brother too.

Seems like lately in every picture we take that someone has their finger in their nose.
😣🀣

While on the train, the conductor threw corn and the squirrels and deer came right up to the track to eat.

The kids loved playing in the water at the river.

Nana and Pop’s with all the grandkids.

Then we road go-carts.

Brant loves to dance.

I know I’ve said this on every post but we really had so much fun! The kids did so good and enjoyed everything we did.
