Camping Trip–Day 4

We have finally made it to the last day of our vacation. On Monday we woke up, got dressed, packed up, took a ton of pictures (as you’re about to see), and headed home.

This was the perfect first vacation for our family. My idea of the perfect vacation is going to a beautiful beach. I absolutely love the beach. And originally, we thought about going to the beach, but we knew the kids just wouldn’t be up for it this year. We have to drive pretty much all day to get to a nice beach; we just didn’t want to stress ourselves out with such a long trip in the car. Broken Bow is only 2 hours away and not once did the kids complain about the drive. The lake was so nice and relaxing and it’s nice to know we don’t have to drive 2 days to have a nice, fun, and relaxing vacation. Maybe in a few years the kids will be ready for such a long trip, but until then, we’re perfectly happy vacationing close to home.

Here’s some extra “outtake” pictures.

Camping Trip–Day 2

I failed to mention yesterday where we went on vacation… we went to Broken Bow, OK. It’s only approximately 2 hours from our house which is one of the main reasons we picked it. I really wanted to go to the beach, but we knew the kids weren’t up for such a long road trip so we kept it close this year. And honestly, I’m glad we did, we had so much fun and didn’t have to go that far to get there.

The whole weekend was forecasted to be rainy…every.single.day! 😩 We were all so bummed, but thankfully the rain held off and we were able to get out and have lots of fun! Day 2 was our water day. We rented a party barge and spent the morning on the lake. Gage and Makenna tubed behind the barge. And Brady took a turn too. Β After lunch Marty, Kara, and Erin came up and we all played, kayaked, and swam the whole afternoon. That evening Jeremy grilled steaks. It was such a fun day!!!

As you can see, the sun zapped everyone and they were out!

Brant’s Homecoming Day

Three years ago today, we brought our precious only boy quint home from the NICU. That moment, this day, is one of those memories that you never forget. Throughout my pregnancy and at the beginning of our long NICU stay, I honestly didn’t know if we’d bring any of the quints home, so when the day finally arrived to take Brant home I was overcome with so many emotions. I was overjoyed, overwhelmed, scared, excited, thankful, and so, so, so blessed to name a few.

Our NICU days are a distant memory now. But I will never forget how amazing everyone in the Baylor NICU were to us. I’m forever grateful to everyone single person who worked with, cared for, and loved our quints. ❀️

This picture popped up on my Facebook newsfeed today. And there is a big part of me that wishes for just a few minutes to go back and snuggle my little guy because he’s not so little anymore. He’s all boy, full of laughter and mischief. He has the most adorable wink and smile. I’m thankful for how far Brant has come since the day we brought him home. He has filled our lives with so much happiness and love. πŸ’™

Happy Homecoming Day Brant!!!

New Beds for our Girlies

It is official, we no longer have babies in the Seals house. Last Friday Steven took all the cribs down and we gave them away. They were replaced with 4 twin beds for each of our little sweethearts. Gracie and Mia share a room and Rayleigh and Tessa share a room. (Brady and Brant share a room.)

Here’s a look at the beds. Once I have the rooms decorated I’ll take you on a tour. πŸ˜‰

So far, the girls have done great sleeping in their new beds. I was concerned it would be a difficult transition but they have surprised me, in a good way. πŸ˜€

Kids in the Kitchen WeekΒ

First off….

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈHappy Memorial Day!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today we remember all the men and women who have fought and made sacrifices for our country so we can enjoy our freedoms. Thank you! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈ

Last week was the kickoff week to The Seals Summer Fun Theme Weeks. Our first theme was Kids in the Kitchen where we had fun making fun and tasty new recipes. In addition to our fun theme, we also incorporated learning activities. Last week we focused on colors, shapes, and the letters A & B.

Monday:

We made Munchy Madness Sandwiches. The kids enjoyed making the sandwiches more than they enjoyed eating the sandwiches.

All you need to make Munch Madness Sandwiches is: bread, peanut butter, bananas, raisins, and honey. Layer, combine, and enjoy. (We refrigerated ours for about an hour before we ate them.)

My main goal is for the kids to haveΒ fun whileΒ working on following directions, working on hand/eye coordination, and trying new foods.

Tessa loved the sandwich, Brady wouldn’t even try it πŸ™„, Brant ate the bananas 🍌, Gracie took everything off and ate the bread with peanut butter, Mia took two bites, and Rayleigh nibbled a few bites.

We read books…

We work on colors, shapes, and letters.

Tuesday

We made Protein Cookies.

Here’s the recipe.

The kids love to help me cook. And I enjoy involving them in these cooking activities.

On Wednesday we skipped cooking and went to the dentist, the mall to play, and bowling. All of us were worn out by the time we got home. Oh and we went to church that night.

Thursday

Thursday mornings are pancake day at the Seals house. So I let the kids help me make Ultimate Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The recipe is on the back of the Bisquick box.

I try to make learning fun for Brady. When he gets tired, we stop.

Friday

We skipped our cooking activity and the kids played outside all morning. Then they went to Nana’s house while their big girl beds were delivered and assembled. I’ll do a separate post on the beds. πŸ˜‰

It was a fun week and a great way to start the summer. We didn’t do everything we’d planned for the week but that’sΒ okay. We still have plenty of time to get to everything I have planned. My motto this summer is no rules. We are just going with the flow and aren’t going to worry about having to do everything right on time.

Happy Summertime!!!!πŸŒΊπŸŒžπŸ’¦πŸ–πŸβ›±

Our Crazy Busy MorningΒ

So if you read my post yesterday, then you already know we had an early morning. I don’t know what possessed me to make the kids dentist appointment for 7:30AM 😳 but I did. Steven got me out of bed when he left for work. I got ready then got the kids ready, all before 7am. I’m happy to report, we were on time for our appointment!! πŸŽ‰

The good thing about our 7:30am appointment is that we walked right back to get our teeth cleaned. And we were the only people there so we had the whole place to ourselves. Brady, Brant, and Tessa were amazing! They let both the hygienist and dentist do everything they needed to do. Mia had to sit up while the hygienist cleaned her teeth but she did great. Rayleigh and Gracie were scared. Both eventually, willingly, got their teeth cleaned but did not get X-rays. I was really proud of them for being so brave. The best news is that everyone has healthy teeth!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ No cavities!!!

I love how Brant is holding on to the chair for dear life. πŸ˜‚

After we left the appointment we headed to the mall to play and eat breakfast.

Rayleigh was playing dentist and checking Gracie’s teeth. Gracie was really proud of her clean teeth. 😁

Then we went bowling!!!

The kids all fought over who got to sit over the vent.

It was an action packed morning and fun was had by all! I noticed on our newΒ appointment card that our next appointment was also scheduled for 7:30am. 😱 I called yesterdayΒ afternoon and had that changed to 9am. πŸ˜‰

If you live in the Texarkana area, I highly recommend Pediatric Dentistry of Texarkana. Everyone is so nice and friendly. They take excellent care of kids and don’t force kids to do anything they aren’t comfortable with; they work hard to not scare kids (and that’s really important to me because I want my kids to feel comfortable with their dentist). We have always had a good experience with Dr. Glass and Dr. Bunch. 😁

And a special thank you to Katie and Tom for all their help yesterday! You ladies are the best! ❀️

Life LatelyΒ

Once again, we had a fun-filled weekend with lots of birthday celebrations. Other than March (which is Brady, Mia, Tessa, Brant, Gracie, and Rayleigh’s birthday month) May is our other busy birthday month. This weekend we celebrated Kayla’s birthday. Brady attended Coby’s birthday party on Saturday too so we have been in the celebrating mood all month long!

We went out for pizza for Kayla’s birthday. πŸ•

Sunday was church and I attended a wedding. After evening services we all went out to celebrate Kayla one more time.

This week kicks off The Seals Summer Theme Weeks! Tom and I sat down and planned out 13 weeks of fun for the Six Sweet Seals. I am hoping the kids will enjoy all our activities and have a fun-fill summer. This week is Kids in the Kitchen Week. I will post about our weekly adventures every Monday this summer so stay tuned. The first Summer Theme Week post will be next Monday!
