Kids in the Kitchen Week

First off….

🇺🇸Happy Memorial Day!🇺🇸

Today we remember all the men and women who have fought and made sacrifices for our country so we can enjoy our freedoms. Thank you! 🇺🇸❤️

Last week was the kickoff week to The Seals Summer Fun Theme Weeks. Our first theme was Kids in the Kitchen where we had fun making fun and tasty new recipes. In addition to our fun theme, we also incorporated learning activities. Last week we focused on colors, shapes, and the letters A & B.

We made Munchy Madness Sandwiches. The kids enjoyed making the sandwiches more than they enjoyed eating the sandwiches.

All you need to make Munch Madness Sandwiches is: bread, peanut butter, bananas, raisins, and honey. Layer, combine, and enjoy. (We refrigerated ours for about an hour before we ate them.)

My main goal is for the kids to have fun while working on following directions, working on hand/eye coordination, and trying new foods.

Tessa loved the sandwich, Brady wouldn’t even try it 🙄, Brant ate the bananas 🍌, Gracie took everything off and ate the bread with peanut butter, Mia took two bites, and Rayleigh nibbled a few bites.

We read books…

We work on colors, shapes, and letters.

We made Protein Cookies.

Here’s the recipe.

The kids love to help me cook. And I enjoy involving them in these cooking activities.

On Wednesday we skipped cooking and went to the dentist, the mall to play, and bowling. All of us were worn out by the time we got home. Oh and we went to church that night.

Thursday mornings are pancake day at the Seals house. So I let the kids help me make Ultimate Chocolate Chip Pancakes. The recipe is on the back of the Bisquick box.

I try to make learning fun for Brady. When he gets tired, we stop.

We skipped our cooking activity and the kids played outside all morning. Then they went to Nana’s house while their big girl beds were delivered and assembled. I’ll do a separate post on the beds. 😉

It was a fun week and a great way to start the summer. We didn’t do everything we’d planned for the week but that’s okay. We still have plenty of time to get to everything I have planned. My motto this summer is no rules. We are just going with the flow and aren’t going to worry about having to do everything right on time.

Happy Summertime!!!!🌺🌞💦🏖🏝⛱

Our Crazy Busy Morning

So if you read my post yesterday, then you already know we had an early morning. I don’t know what possessed me to make the kids dentist appointment for 7:30AM 😳 but I did. Steven got me out of bed when he left for work. I got ready then got the kids ready, all before 7am. I’m happy to report, we were on time for our appointment!! 🎉

The good thing about our 7:30am appointment is that we walked right back to get our teeth cleaned. And we were the only people there so we had the whole place to ourselves. Brady, Brant, and Tessa were amazing! They let both the hygienist and dentist do everything they needed to do. Mia had to sit up while the hygienist cleaned her teeth but she did great. Rayleigh and Gracie were scared. Both eventually, willingly, got their teeth cleaned but did not get X-rays. I was really proud of them for being so brave. The best news is that everyone has healthy teeth!!! 🎉🎉🎉 No cavities!!!

I love how Brant is holding on to the chair for dear life. 😂

After we left the appointment we headed to the mall to play and eat breakfast.

Rayleigh was playing dentist and checking Gracie’s teeth. Gracie was really proud of her clean teeth. 😁

Then we went bowling!!!

The kids all fought over who got to sit over the vent.

It was an action packed morning and fun was had by all! I noticed on our new appointment card that our next appointment was also scheduled for 7:30am. 😱 I called yesterday afternoon and had that changed to 9am. 😉

If you live in the Texarkana area, I highly recommend Pediatric Dentistry of Texarkana. Everyone is so nice and friendly. They take excellent care of kids and don’t force kids to do anything they aren’t comfortable with; they work hard to not scare kids (and that’s really important to me because I want my kids to feel comfortable with their dentist). We have always had a good experience with Dr. Glass and Dr. Bunch. 😁

And a special thank you to Katie and Tom for all their help yesterday! You ladies are the best! ❤️

Be blessed,

Hello Monday!

Hey y’all!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We’ve been pretty busy around here. We’re trying to enjoy this last week before school starts. All SIX of the kids start school next Monday. Yes, you read that correctly, the quints are going to Pre-K 2 this year. I will fill you in on all those details next week. Getting my house organized and cleaned before school starts has been my top priority lately. I managed to get all the kids gone Saturday morning so Steven and I got a lot of stuff around the house cleaned up and put away. I’ve only got our room, closet and bathroom left to organize and clean, and that’s going to be the hardest room to complete. Steven and I did got to get dressed up and go out this weekend. We attended the Red River Army Depot 75th Birthday Ball Friday night. It was great to get to see a couple of our friends that we never get to see. The kids have been swimming a lot lately.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, the quints are doing well without their pacifiers. No one has asked about them in several days now. I’ll blog about it soon!

Here are some pictures of what we’ve been up to……

Have a great week!

Be blessed,

Hello Monday!

Hey y’all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

We have had a fun weekend. Friday we dressed the kids in their Cardinal shirts and headed out to cheer on our Cardinal volleyball team. My niece, Makenna, plays. Saturday, we loaded the kids up and headed to the splash pad. Most of the kids enjoyed playing in the water. Sunday was church and the first day that all of the quints took a nap at the same time since we took the pacifiers away last Monday. Today was an unusually cool day here in Texas so we loaded up and went to the park. It was a beautiful day, only 81 degrees, and hardly anyone was at the park so it was awesome.

So the quints are still struggling without their pacifiers but it is getting better. Today they were all asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed at nap time. I am hoping this is going to be the new norm. They are adjusting, it’s just taking a little more time than I expected.

To save space, I group the pictures in the post together, but if you want to see the pictures up close, you can click on a picture and it should let you see each picture individually.

Hump Day Humor

Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a great week. We have been enjoying the warm mornings, that’s when we go outside and play before it gets too hot, but for the most part, we stay inside for the rest of the day. We have been getting out the house more and doing fun things as a family. I love that the quints are old enough to handle getting out more.

So I know a lot of you have been wondering how life without pacifiers is going for the quints and the rest of us. I am going to do a post all about life after pacifiers, but until then, just know it has been a struggle. On different days, different kids have struggled more. Nap time has gone away for me, because since Monday, at least one of the quints has not napped. But, we will make it through this phase, we have made it through all the other difficult phases and this one won’t be any different. Hopefully, they will adjust and move on sooner rather than later. So thank you to everyone who has checked up on us, it really helps knowing so many of our friends, loved ones, and even strangers and rooting for us and praying for us!

Here’s a few pictures to put a smile on your face. Hope you have a great rest of the week!

Hump Day Humor

Hey y’all!

So over the weekend, the quints had a little stomach bug. Well, they were oh so sweet and shared it with me. Yesterday I didn’t leave my room once. Today, it hit Steven. Everyone except Brady has had the bug. And let me tell you, it’s no fun. Thankfully it only lasts 24 hours so today I felt much better and took the kids to the mall to play in the playground to let them run off some energy.

Have a great rest of the week!
